Facilitation

My skill as a facilitator has evolved slowly throughout my career and I continue learning every day. I coordinated the Goedgedacht Forum for Social Reflection between 2003 and mid-2007. This work involved convening multi-sector discussions on a range of topics relating to Democracy, Society, Gender, Inclusion, Climate Change and Sustainability. Between 2007 and 2014 as founding director of Project 90 by 2030 I facilitated several cross-sectoral collective policy advocacy efforts in response to electricity planning. As CEO of the South African Wind Energy Association between 2016 and 2019, my work included championing and convening several collective efforts to resume South Africa’s renewable energy public procurement programme as a cornerstone of the national energy transition. 

These practical experiences have been strengthened through ongoing formal and informal study of a range of facilitation methodologies including Theory U, transactional analysis and appreciative enquiry. 

Given that my approach to facilitation includes thorough preparation and bespoke process design based on initial consultation, I tend to only take on contracts that recognise the value of adequate preparation time and careful process.
